Question: How do you feel about working with dangerous clients?
Answer: I believe working with ” dangerous” clients can possibly be a challenge. I would go off by learning the clients history and knowing about the issues they’ve had before before meeting them in person. Meeting clients like this will definitely bring fear and having yourself very alert of the client, but every client should always be treated the same which perhaps can bring a different outcome out of the client especially if every person reacts a certain way when meeting them and if you give them a different respect they might give more trust to have a better relationship. Every case will always be different, and every client will have their own reasons why they’re under being ” dangerous” , some of this clients are just clients who defend themselves of others to take care of themselves or others who see everyone as a threat.
Qustion: How do you feel about working with involuntary clients?
Answer: Working with involuntary clients is a challenge. They are the type of people that are independent of one’s will. If you think about it, based upon this chapter, they are the people that refuse help especially when it comes to addiction. If I were to work with an involuntary client it would be a constant process of making them do things they do not want to do like seeking help at a rehabilitation center, but I know that just like everybody else they deserve our time and the respect just like our other clients. It would be tough to help somebody who has already given up, but I believe a person never just seeks help unless they really want the help. In the case, even if the client has been to many other social workers, there is always a chance that maybe another individual has another way to help the client. I would not turn down an involuntary client. I will do my job until I have exhausted every possibility of helping my client.
