CHAPTER 8 – CHAPTER 8 – CHAPTER 8

Satire is a form of Comedy.  On page 184, Wilson describes Satire as “A form related to traditional burlesque, but with more intellectual and moral content.  Satire uses wit, irony and exaggeration to attack or expose evil and foolishness.”  Modern forms of satire include SNL, South Park and The Onion.
How does Clybourne Park meet the requirements of Satire; intellectual and moral content (racism, sexism, classism, etc.) that uses wit, irony and exaggeration to attack or expose evil and foolishness?  Please give four specific moments from the play, two from act I and two from act II, that illustrate the use of satire in the play.  Be specific and defend your choices.  REMEMBER, satire is at it’s base funny and mocks institutions and beliefs.  Make sure that your examples are clear and the use of satirical comedy is defined.
