Below is a sample outline presenting the manner in which your essay should be presented. You need a generalization or stereotype about parenting as part of your thesis. For example: “Pushing Sons to Play Sports (Because It’s “Manly”).” This is a stereotype. Then provide examples to disprove the stereotype. You need a generalization/stereotype. Example: “Generalization/stereotype – Helicopter parenting is the safest way to raise children.” (Helicopter parenting means being involved in a child’s life in a way that is over controlling and over perfecting in a way that is in excess of responsible parenting.) Following the generalization/stereotype you would then provide at least three examples to disprove the generalization/stereotype. You may write in first-person or third-person point of view. You are
writing for an audience unfamiliar with your topic, so your goal is to
use examples and language your readers are familiar with and can
relate to.
Use the header function to insert your page number in the top
right margin of your document.
You do not need to include your essay title in the header.
