Task 3: Part C – Evidence of Feedback
In Lesson 2, after re-reading the introductory sentence for the picture card showing a bus, the focus learner was directed to the Expanding Expressions Tool (EET) manipulative (string of beads) and shown the first bead (Green/Group). After some discussion and comparing buses to cars and other things that go, she wrote the sentence below. (bus is something to driv.)
I asked the focus learner about the word drive, and if she heard the long /i/ sound (and wrote the symbol for the long vowel sound above the letter i, so how should that be spelled? She verbally said the rule about the “magic e” at the end of words that make the vowel say its name. Then she fixed it (below) to put the “magic e” at the end.
I then had her read the sentence that she wrote and asked if there was something missing to make the sentence make sense. I wrote “Are we missing something” at the top with an arrow pointing to in front of the bus. She was able to then verbally express “A bus is something to drive.
