This informative speech will explore the practicability of ozone therapy in the treatment of COVID-19. The topic is relevant to the public health discourse considering the adverse impacts that the pandemic has occasioned since it was declared a global pandemic in March 2020. Despite concerted efforts from concerned agencies and stakeholders to eliminate it, COVID-19 remains a public health emergency. This reality forms the basis for this informative speech that highlights the need for stakeholders to consider embracing ozone therapy. Notably, the speech will capitalize on three points, namely: Pharmacological and biochemical properties of ozone therapy; Effectiveness of ozone therapy in managing other conditions; and effectiveness of ozone therapy in treating COVID-19
Pharmacological and biochemical properties of ozone therapy
This point focuses on the properties that make ozone therapy effective against chronic and acute diseases. According to Di Mauro et al. (2019), ozone therapy’s pharmacological properties lie within triatomic oxygen molecules, allowing them to react with double-bonded organic compounds. The oxidation of these double bonds is crucial, considering it allows for the stoppage of biological contaminants such as viruses.
Effectiveness of ozone therapy in managing other conditions
Ozone therapy has been used in clinical settings for various purposes, including pain management. However, there are doubts regarding its efficacy, especially for patients with pulmonary disease, as it triggers inflammation (Leroy et al., 2017). Despite such findings, ozone therapy demonstrates potential in patients with other conditions, thus requiring further research.
Effectiveness of ozone therapy in treating COVID-19
Ozone therapy is becoming a popular clinical intervention since its adaptive reaction reduces pneumonia’s oxidative stress. Izadi et al. (2021) note that this form of therapy is heralded for its effectiveness in countering the effects that severe COVID-19 has on the lungs. Notably, this topic will allow for an in-depth exploration into the factors that enhance ozone therapy’s effectiveness against COVID-19.
