Student Presentations of Nursing Issues
This assignment provides the student with an opportunity to investigate a current nursing issue. The student, working in groups of three, will research the issue and present the information to the class using a power point presentation. Components of the presentation must include historical trends, discussion of the ethics of the issue, pertinent standards or guidelines and suggestions for the “preferred future.”
Possible issues topics are listed below.

Pre-Work:
Groups submits outline by assigned date
Group meets with Professor to review presentation
Submits one reference article for class prior by assigned date
Content:
Higher level objectives
Clear statement of issue and its significance.
Thorough description of issue components
Analysis of relationships among those components
History of the issue
Present status of the issue
Identification of ways individuals, groups, and health care entities are affected
Plan for best solution for a “preferred future” including rationale(s)
Consideration of costs (monetary, time, further education, etc.)
Summarization of plan
Provides adequate references and assigned reading(s).
Presentation:
Organized: Describes the purpose of presentation, overall outline
Elocution: Clear speaking of effective volume and rate, proper pronunciation
Promotes class participation and active discussion
Professionalism
Introduce student presenters
Neat, professional attire
Maintains eye contact with audience- active interaction, answers audience‘s questions
