Companies are expected to produce the highest quality product at the lowest price possible. Do companies actually do this? For example, is an iPhone11 really worth $1000 when its shelf life is weighted around 2 years? That means the annual price of a phone is $500/year. Can you think of other examples? In the 1970’s Honda introduced the CIVIC to the U.S. it got 30 mpg. Today the average mpg of a CIVIC is 36 mpg. Is technology so limited?

Take a deep, untainted introspective look. Analyze how segmentation, targeting and positioning has affected you in regard to these scenarios. Have you given in to the S.T.P. approach companies take? Have these companies or others been able to put you in a position to believe their paradigm? If so, are you okay with that? If not, how will you respond in the future to avoid being manipulated by marketing? Was their STP approach effective? Why or why not?
