PurposeThe overall goal of the Be Insightful writing project is for you to contribute

PurposeThe overall goal of the Be Insightful writing project is for you to contribute fresh perspectives about a topic as you engage with various published writers in an ongoing conversation. Your approach to developing and contributing fresh perspectives to the conversation will be to understand thoroughly the various perspectives being offered by the other writers. Eventually you will join the existing conversation by contributing different and fresh points of view about the topic for your reader(s) to consider. You must include at least 5 credible sources, mostly from academic sources such as Google Scholar. You must cite these sources correctly in the text using MLA, as well as create a correct Works Cited page.
TASKThis paper differs from the Be Interesting project because you will focus on an existing conversation of other writers (the sources) so that you can offer different perspectives to update the conversation and keep it going. Your prewriting work for this project will be crucial to successfully developing your points of view.  TOPICHow is the “Cancel Culture” creating a better social, cultural and learning environment? Or is it dangerous in its ability to literally cancel writers, teachers, celebrities, athletes, media people, etc. for speaking freely, if not always correctly/intelligently/knowledgably?
CRITERIAWhen your peers and I respond to your Be Insightful draft, we will be looking for your paper to include the following elements:  • a creative and appealing title • a well-crafted, interesting introduction that introduces your reader(s) to the ongoing conversation around your question • a well-synthesized conversation between you and at least 5 credible sources (the majority from academic sources such as Google Scholar) • paragraphs with clear topic sentences that use your fresh ideas to keep the reader interested • well-developed, interesting content within the paragraphs supported by two or more well- integrated sources indicating that you have synthesized • use of Aristotelian Appeals to keep your reader engaged • specific language choices that complement your sources’ language and that keep the conversation moving along for your readers • a clear and well-developed thesis (focus) that is fresh • a conclusion that leaves your reader(s) either satisfied with their time and effort reading about your idea, or wanting to read more about your idea • multiple usage of all the sources from the packet • proper in-text citations along with a Works Cited page in MLA formatFormat
