To prepare a power point presentation based on research of an Indigenous art as a form of resistance
Art as Resistance: Each student will research Indigenous art as a form of resistance regarding a specific Indigenous Rights issue (legal system, education, housing, MMIWG2S, healthcare, water, land… etc.). Students will individually create an art piece that showcases how art can be used as a form of resistance in reference to Indigenous Nations and Indigenous artists who have used art as a political tool. Students may use any safe and appropriate materials and format for their art piece. In addition to the art creation, students are expected to explain their art piece within 1 page, Chicago Manual of Style, double spaced and 12-point Times New Roman font reflection and present their work to the class in a 5-7 min max presentation. Students must use academic practice and outside sources to provide a critical reflection. Students must use proper citations and are expected to use a minimum of two peer-reviewed sources.
