Submission 1 Company Overview
“millo air” is a featured product on Kickstarter, created by a company called Millo appliances in August 2020 and by September 2022, it was officially launched onto the Kickstarter site. In total, the company is seeking $9,689 to meet their project goal and have already surpassed the amount by thousands of dollars through the 1,219 individuals supporting their project. The company claims to have invented the first blender technology that doesn’t utilize a motor, which is traditionally found in many big-name blender brands.
“millo air” differentiates its product brand by using a magnetic air drive to control the blending in order to achieve maximum silence when in use. There is a constant spinning magnetic disk located in the base of the blender and the only sound that users could hear is solely the ingredients being crushed together. Through its magnetic technology, it provides convenience to users when it comes to piecing the product together. During the setup process, the blender doesn’t require any twisting or turning from the user. Instead, the product is readily available to attach by simply placing the base of the blender just above the magnetic air drive base. The magnetic technology located at the base of the blender automatically holds the product together. “millo air” created a concept around the blender being extremely lightweight, convenient, and portable with the base acting similarly to a rechargeable battery pack for an iPhone. The product comes along with a magnetic hook that is attachable to any wall for wireless charging and is activated when the user hangs up the base of the blender to it. In terms of speed controls, it is customizable based on the user’s preference and updates to new control features through its “smart” technology. “millo air” confidently believes that its unique multifunctional features are incomparable to traditional kitchenware products that consumers have been using for the last decade.
On Kickstarter, “millo air” incorporates the repetition of its slogan, “We’re MAD about…”(millo air: New Generation Motorless Magnetic Blender!, n.d.) throughout the product description to highlight the blender’s main feature of having a “Magnetic Air Drive (M.A.D.)”. Other examples include, “It’s MAD how lightweight it is” and “It’s MAD how powerful it is” (millo air: New Generation Motorless Magnetic Blender!, n.d.). The company provides supporting graphics to demonstrate how efficient it is to assemble the product and includes consistent fonts and colors to strategically communicate its image and brand across to users. In addition, the company also includes a section of their page dedicated to the prototyping process of the product as well as displaying unedited, raw videos of the “millo air” in action. The tutorials range in the blending of different ingredients, from crushing ice to frozen fruits, to even crushing nuts to form cashew milk.
Further down the Kickstarter site, “millo air” also includes a graphic that explains the multiple features that separates the company from its top three competitors: “blendjet”, “Breville”, and “nutribullet,” three renounced companies that share extremely similar products. Categories being compared includes the capacity of ingredients that the blender can hold, the battery power of the charging base, the power capacity, whether the blender is wireless, automatic programs, pulse mode, speed, app control, and more. The comparison chart concludes that “millo air” meets all the requirements in comparison to the other companies, ultimately differentiating itself from the basic brands through its unique features.
An additional marketing technique that “millo air” incorporates onto their Kickstarter page is their environmental commitments which shows that they are socially responsible through their practices when it comes to designing their products. Main points that are communicated through this section includes that it is made with sustainable materials, production is through an environmentally friendly factory, sustainable distribution is practiced, and the product comes with a long-lasting design – up to a 10 year warranty covered by the company.
